Kent Cemetery

Location: 43.89140 -71.01899

From its intersection with Stewart Road, drive east 0.1 miles on Old Carriage Road to a skidder road on the right (south). Hike uphill (south) on the skidder road just over 0.5 miles to a cellar hole on the right (west). The cemetery is 100 yards west of the cemetery. It is an empty stone-walled square with approximately six grave depressions but no gravestones. Two of the depressions are quite deep, like the graves were exhumed. It is probable that the stones (and possibly the graves) were moved to Eaton Center Cemetery, as that is where the Kent family stones now reside.

Historical Information: The Jonathan Kent family lived on the top of Kent Mountain near the cemetery by at least 1840. A number of his children died young and were probably buried in this small cemetery. It is possible that even Jonathan and his wife Rachel were buried there too. Their gravestones are now in a plot in the middle of the Eaton Center Cemetery.

Condition (11/9/2019): This cemetery is an empty stone-walled square with grave depressions but not gravestones. The area is overgrown and was logged in the last couple of years.
