Palmer Cemetery

Find-A-Grave Listing

Location: 43.89732 -71.08030

From its intersection with Glines Hill Road, drive south on Young’s Road 0.7 miles. The small family cemetery is 100 yards southeast of the house and once had a pipe fence around it. Currently the posts remain and the pipes are on the ground.

Historical Information: This cemetery contains the graves of the Palmer family who lived across the road. There is a monument for William H. Palmer, his wife Marthar (Thurston) and their two unmarried children: William H. H. and Sarah E. Palmer. Another gravestone is for their daughters Mary J. Palmer and Rose E. (Palmer) Frost. (Note: The birthdate for Rose is listed as 1883 when she was actually born in 1847. No other Rose Frost could be found and the death date matches.)

It appears that William’s parents, Growth and Elizabeth Palmer, originally lived on this land. They may also be buried in this cemetery. However, it appears that the pipe fence originally enclosed just the six known graves. There is also a modern memorial stone outside of the fenced area for a relation of the current landowner.

Condition (9/7/2020): This cemetery is overgrown with an old pipe fence that has mostly fallen down.
