Historical Information:

A longtime neighbor was able to confirm that the graves in this cemetery were associated with the Warren family and were moved to the Holt Cemetery on Lord’s Hill Road prior to the 1930s.

This cemetery is near the John M. Warren cellar, so it is probable that John (1798-1840) was originally buried here, and perhaps other members of his family. His widow Hannah (1793-1881) continued to live on the homestead farm with her eldest son Ichabod S. Warren (1820-1909). Ichabod S. did not marry until age 54 but still had seven children with his much younger wife, Mary Etta (Ward) Warren. One of the children was Henry H. Warren (1885-1967).

A monument for the Warrens is located in a plot in the middle of the Holt Cemetery, away from the older northern end. On the north side is John M. and Hannah Warren, on the west is Henry H., his wife Lulu, their son Merton, and daughter Ruth. The engraving for John and Hannah is older, while the carving for the others is newer. Henry’s name was engraved by 1988 and his wife and children added later. Also in the plot is a flat bronze military marker for Ichabod S. Warren. It is possible that either Ichabod or Henry had the graves moved to the new plot.

Condition (5/24/23): This cemetery was probed for headstones but none were found. Some of the granite slabs have fallen or broken. It is unknown whether the remains were moved from this cemetery or just the headstones.
